Week 28

¿Qué Tal? Estas semanas están volando!

How is everybody doing? I can't seem to keep up with the weeks! This week was a pretty good one though.

We FINALLY had the baptism of Jeffery!! I have been waiting about 4-5 months to see him in the baptismal font. We have been teaching him ever since I got to the mission and he kept telling us that he wasn't prepared to be baptized, even though we knew he was more than ready. His dad is the bishop of our ward, and he is the only one in his family that isnt a member. We kept setting baptismal dates for him, but as they would come nearer, he would always want to prolong the date. We finally agreed with him to be baptized on the 1st of February, his birthday.

His baptismal service was definitely one of my favorites that I have had in the mission. It had its usual beginnings, as it started about an hour late despite all our efforts to get everyone there on time (Peruvian hour they call it), but was absolutely filled with the spirit. We asked his mom Johanna to give a message before the baptism, and she shared a powerful testimony and how grateful she was to her Heavenly Father for having her family all together and now all members of the Church of Christ. It was super cool to hear those words and know that I helped play a small part as a servant of the Lord in helping their family come closer to Christ. It was even cooler to see Jeoffrey enter the baptismal font and be baptized by his father. There is always something special about baptisms. It's these moments that makes everything worth it. :) After the baptism, we all sang happy birthday to Jeffery, and had a little party. The cake was pretty tasty. Man what a good day.

The rest of this week consisted of the normal chamba (work). Sometimes it becomes a little monotonous to hit the heat and dusty streets day in and day out, but I always try to remember my missionary purpose, and why it is that we do what we do. Our purpose more than anything is to bring people to Christ through His restored gospel. I always try to remember the great blessings that this gospel has brought to my life, and realize that there are millions of people without it. It's our job and responsibility as missionaries to bring these things to them. Its always that missionary purpose that keeps me going. I know that this is the work of the Lord and I will faithfully do His will unto the end!!

Well I hope you all had a great week. Im glad to hear that the Eagles finally took down Ole Tom Brady. Funny thing is I didn't hear one single thing about the Super Bowl down here in Peru. I dont think most people know what exaclty "football Americano” is, lol. Anyways, love you all.

Avanza Su Verdad!
